The In Crowd

I'm so with it and hip these days! Photo: NYT

On an unrelated note, we think something might have been "off" about Sunday's dinner. Bick, the dog and I have been less than 100% since our meal. I cannot imagine what it could have been. I'm leaving it up to him to ask to the rest of his family. I hope they fared better than we have. I think I probably had the worst of it. And yes, he does feed his dog plate scrapings. Not my dog. Not my deal.

In an about face from the absolute perfection of last weekend, bitter, bitter cold (for this area) is headed this way. We will have lows down in the low teens, upper singles through the end of the week. Oh, joys. The ice storm cometh - that's the real killer here - these bad ice storms that will knock down trees and powerlines. Could be serious. Many businesses have already announced closings. Don't know if there will be work tomorrow or not. I better like fish, eggs and spinach because that's about all there is in the house right now if I get iced in.

Take good care of yourself. Be kind to others. Be prepared.

  1. Oh no about not feeling 100%. It's cold here as well. Brrr!

Have a good day and feel better!

  2. No doubt that!
    As an agency nurse *gasp*
I make up more than half of my time, just
by covering for nurses in bad weather
    and far away places!
All this and the Super Bowl Buzz!
    Stay warm, Roxie!
    And feel better!

  3. I listen to a morning drive show syndicated out of TX when I drive to work. This morning all they could talk about was how bad the weather was in Dallas and how the Superbowl teams would feel right at home.

It's bad enough around here where we do get a bit but I can't even imagine Texans trying to deal with that - or drive in it. Even we don't like driving in ice. Well, actually, you can't drive in ice.

Hope you feel better today... any chance of digging up some good old fashioned chicken noodle soup? I always enjoy that when my tummy isn't 100%.

  4. Very cool article in your link - makes me want to spend some time in Dallas now!

This weather is crazy cold. My son was worried about driving from Denton to his internship in Plano - luckily, he decided to stay home. OK, I was worried, too. ;)

Try and stay warm...it is windy and freezing here, and we're 3 hours south of you!

  5. Oh, dear, I hope your better soon. I had some salad dressing the other day that I think was a little off. It's hard to tell with somethings.

This morning I took the dogs out at 6:30 and it was warm and humid. Then at 7, it sounded like the roof was coming off and stuff was flying around the yard and it was really cold! If that's what we've got down here, it must really be scary up there in D-FW. It's hard to be prepared with weather like this.

Stay warm. Hope things don't get bad.

  6. I tend to look straight to the seafood when that happens. Hopefully everybody gets past this with no complications.

Snow is one thing, but ice is downright treacherous. They're predicting dire things up our way, but it's only going to be snow. But Ill take our 2 feet of snow over a half inch of ice any day! Hope it doesn't get too bad down your way. Stay warm!

  7. Hang in there, they don't know how to deal with it here in Virginia either.
    Feel better

  8. Hope your GI tract or whatever parts are icky feel better fast.

Wow - you're going to be having worse weather than us this weekend. I think it's harder for mostly warm weather places to get that frigid air - your blood thins out or something! In Florida, we'd be shivering if it got into the 40s!

I bet you can come up with a real delicacy with those ingredients. At least no junk food is lurking.

  9. You icky feeling might have just been eating things you are not used to eating..."company food." Hub and I have the same problem when we eat off program. Even if we don't overdo the quantity, if the food is rich or somehow different, we suffer for days.

Anyway, hope you are feeling better. Drink lots of water and flush it out!

Hope you make it through the storm okay. The weather in other parts of the country makes me ashamed for whining about how "cold" it is here (it got down to the mid 20's last night..boo hoo).

  10. I hope you are feeling better soon and that you don't get iced in.
    Stay warm and healthy!

  11. Oh no! I hope you're feeling better soon!

And if you'd kindly keep your frigid weather there, we who live northeast of you would be ever so appreciative. :)

We'll try this for a while.
